Gael Garcia Bernal in Bad Education.
Bad Education is a beautifully crafted, deftly scripted and well-acted bit of film noir. It slowly reveals the mysteries of its central characters in a way that pays sly homage to Hitchcock's Vertigo.
The story begins with an old school friend walking into the office of a movie director. From here there are flashbacks and stories within stories. As it turns out very little is what it at first seems to be.
The plot deals with pedophile priests, transvestites, drug addicts and wanna-be actors. All interwoven in a brilliant and refreshing manner by director Pedro Almodovar. The less you know about the details the more fully you will enjoy this singular motion picture experience.
Gael Garcia Bernal, last seen in Y Tu Mama Tambien gives a stellar performance both in drag and out of it. The rest of the cast is equally good.
Easily one of 2004's best movies.
