Jessica Simpson: Country Boys Prefer Blondes Too

Jessica Simpson makes a sexualy enticing screen debut in The Dukes of Hazzard.

You have seen Jessica Simpson on the television show Newlyweds. You have seen her videos and heard her songs. You have read about her marriage to, former 98 Degrees lead singer, Nick Lachey. Now you can see Jessica Simpson co-starring, as Daisy Duke, in The Dukes of Hazzard movie.

In The Dukes of Hazzard, Jessica Simpson makes a very noticeable screen debut. She appears in many cleavage and leg revealing outfits. The most noticeable one is the pink bikini. She also gets some sexually suggestive lines like, “I think something bounced up into my under carriage.”

Simpson’s take on Daisy Duke is reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe’s Lorelie Lee from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Monroe played a woman who completely understood how men react to her sexuality and, whenever necessary, used it to her advantage. Simpson’s Daisy is fully aware of how men get stupid and agreeable when confronted with a scantily clad hottie with a friendly smile. At one point she explains, “They’re gonna get caught and thrown in jail, then I’m gonna have to shake my ass at somebody to get them out.”

On the MTV reality show Newlyweds, Jessica Simpson gained fame for being a dizzy blonde. Her straight faced question to her husband Nick, and his reaction, about whether Chicken of the Sea is chicken or tuna is a classic modern television moment. Like Marilyn Monroe, Jessica Simpson has proven that the sexy, dumb blonde routine can be quite entertaining.

Her screen debut will not win any acting awards but it will earn her further work as a movie star. (I still consider it a bit of a stretch to actually call her an actress.) She has signed on to play the lead in next years Room Service. As long as Jessica Simpson looks good in a bikini, she will find work in film.
